Root veggies are fairly hardy and can last well in the fridge on their own. However if you find you are losing them to rot and dryness, here are some of my techniques. These guys can be pretty chill in the fridge, but can still wilt or dry out. To cut down on waste it’s always good practice to make sure they are staying crisp and fresh in your fridge by taking care of them.
Here's how I store them to make them last...
Cut up veggies and store them in a glass container. By cutting up certain things and storing them in glass containers helps keep them fresher longer and takes up less storage space in my fridge. Going with a good sealed glass container can help preserve your fruits and veggies well.
Storing them with a damp towel or submerged in a bit of water in an open container can help bring longevity to your veggies. Things like mushrooms can be placed in a glass container with the lid off and a damp towel on top. Replace the towel when needed.
Beeswax wraps are your friend! Alongside that, I have purchased beeswax wraps (I know it's not entirely vegan, but it's a good step in the right direction to get away from cling wrap). They are a good alternative to cling wrap if it's something you use in your kitchen! They can be used over and over, washed and re-washed! There are so many good ones on the market now. I went with @abeego and @sweetbee just to see how they feel and look!

If you are storing potatoes, onions and garlic make sure they are in a cool dark place. They can last a very long time away from moisture and sunlight!
How do you go eco in your house? I plan on getting the whole house on a proper reduced waste system! So if you have any tips let me know!
